Last night I was looking at my stack of games to review, now I am a big fan of cartoons like Aqua Teen. South Park..yada yada. Most games that are created from cartoons are done really badly, this is one of those first titles I think I have played that was done badly on purpose!
The team behind ATHF and AdultSwim are generally known for screwing with their audience, for instance remember when they promised to air the movie right before it hit theaters..and then on April 1st they surely did just that..one lil caveat there was no sound, tons of popups and it was a teeny weenie itty bitty viewing size.
Well the approach to this game is pretty much mirrored in the same mess with your head attitude. Moreover you will buy this game if you like the show and you will enjoy spending the hard earned cash to suffer through the levels only to be slightly rewarded.
The real reason a fan would purchase AQTF is to get the 4 episodes and collect the 12 one minute clips scattered around the courses. That my friends is the pay off!
So about the game itself, ugh ok here we go...
Basically, you are playing Master Shake or Frylock, the story of the game is that Frylock gets a letter telling him he is accepted as a member of a golf club. Well Shake is pretty upset about all this and they all go and play some golf ( without registering I might add )
So the playing golf part is pretty easy, hit X 3 times so the power meter can do its thing then watch the ball soar or explode at your feet. So, golf = easy. Now onto the err game?
The pat that a half baked fan or drunk person will really like is that you have to (slowly) run to where your ball landed, while being chased by constantly spawning enemies. Along the way you can pick up powerups (man they look really cheesy).
The games visuals are all very well, bad, really really bad. But this is expected as almost every part of the game is meant to be that way. The sound is done pretty well, with many, many, many, many many, many (did I repeat myself enough??) repeated dialogue lines that will pretty much drive you insane fairly quickly.
Overall I think that it is actually a brilliant piece of work (if you are a fan or into sado masochism). The title will set you back $30.00 and you do get 4 episodes of content. One last thing, MeatWad is super funny with his caddy pep talk other than that...
Sorry I am done the review.
