The timeless timewaster of Solitare is available on the iPhone from Gameloft. It offers some popular versions such as Pyramid, Spider and Freecell as well as Yukon, Golf and traditional Solitaire. These can be played as quick games, but it also puts a gambling edge on the game with a Casino mode. In this mode, the games can be played in different casinos, each with its own house favorite game and odds. You can increase your bet to get higher returns, but must secure more cards to do so. Each casino after the first has an unlock price which must be earned playing the various games.

Platinum Solitaire combines the usually reward-less game of solitaire with the compulsive gambler in all of us. The sound and music is decent, but once again will probably be muted. Otherwise your boss or co-worker may realize you are paying zero attention to their presentation. It is also $3.99 and as the game of Solitaire has endless possibilities, you will definitely get your money’s worth. There may be other Solitaire games out there, but this is the only one that lets you risk real (imaginary) money!
