Graphically, some improvements where made but the engine definitely shows its age. EA, its time for a change. This year’s add-ons and animations helped, but eventually EA is going to have to rework the engine, maybe make a brand new one to truly provide a next-gen college football experience.

Looks like eye candy from a distance...

Overall, NCAA Football 08 provides a great college football experience while
throwing some unwanted and unforeseen curveballs at you while it is at it. While this game improved leaps and bounds from last year’s title and definetly laid the foundation for NCAA 08 greatness, you can’t help but feel that EA needs to step it up and spend a bit more time polishing their product to provide a truly jaw dropping experience.

Our Rating for NCAA Football 08 Review
8.5
Fun Factor
+ Presentation is solid. ESPN feature is always nice and the inclusion of the weather channel is a bonus.
- You barely notice the new Motivational feature.
8.0
Graphics
New animations enhance the game’s appearance but multiple glitches just scream for a serious engine revamping.
7.5
Sound
+ Commentators do a great job, makes you feel like you are watching an ESPN game.
- You just don’t hear the stadium erupting into many fight songs for the local home team or the crowd erupting into loud cheers which takes away from the experience.
9.0
Multiplayer
+ The enhanced tackling abilities provide for some bone crushing hits and the ability to change direction without going through a whole animation enhance the game drastically.
8.2
Single Player
+ Dynasty mode is as deep as it has ever been.
- Campus Legend is very easy to beat and many aspects are out of your control. Definitely room for improvement.
