Me and My Wii
Posted by Lukatoll, Dec 31, 1969 19:00

Hey guys,

It's Lucas and I thought I'd just try out my very first blog entry on TGR. Well, i'm going to jump back to 2005, the year where I first started getting into hardcore gaming. I saw an article in some magazine about the Nintendo Revolution and they

showed the controller for the first time. Details were slim but I immediately fell in love. After thinking about all the cool things that could happen with the Wii I started surfing the web where I was shown to sites like IGN, Gamespot and 1up. I started checking these sites regularly for new info on the Wii. And then I saw the E3 2006 Nintendo Wii trailer in which they showed people doing all of those neat motions with their arms and controlling the game. That's when I was hooked. Launch day came and went and I live on a military base in Japan so the supply on the Wii's were very, very low. Well after some patience and hardwork i finally got my hands on the Wii.

I was so happy I could barely speak I bought Zelda and immedietly started playing. I played and beat zelda twice and played Wii sports a countless amount of times. Now, I don't know what to do with it. I did play and be both Super Mario Galaxy and RE:4 and I also bought Super Smash Bros Brawl but thats about it.

I've lost interest in the Wii. Anyone feel the same way? The only reason I keep my Wii is for the next zelda and more Nintendo first-party games such as pikmin. But the great part about this is the part about it bringing me into the "harcore" crowd. I now own a 360 elite which I play regularly. So while I don't play my wii too often, I still love it for bringing me into gaming.

The end

I lost interest in my WII after Smash Brothers, I just cannot find any reason whatsoever to pick it up with so many good games on the other platforms.

I just got in an argument with my girlfriend’s younger sister over the Wii -- she’s convinced that the Wii is the best thing on the market, and I attempted to prove to her otherwise. Seeing her own play habits (she’s very casual, and so gets bored easily), I told her that she’d be better off getting an Arcade 360, and since her father wants a 360 pretty badly, I told her she could even split the costs with him.

She’s also a victim of trends, and so she stubbornly told me that she *knew* that the Wii was more fun that the 360 (though in the same sentence she begged me to get SingStar PS3... go figure, right?) because she had played one. It might be boring, but the public won’t know that for another year or so.

I still love the Wii console. Some cool games that I wouldn’t consider hardcore, but are worth a look are the following: 1. Zack and Wiki 2. Metroid 3 - Corruption 3. Okami (very Zelda-like) 4. Fire Emblem (cool RPG) 5. Bully Scholarship Edition Check out some of my thoughts on these at my website: http://web.mac.com/bdalton_1209/iWeb/Site%201/
