This newer version of Rock Band will build upon the foundations of the earlier game by giving players a newly designed, and sturdier, guitar and drum peripheral that will provide the player with better detail and more realism in the gameplay experience.  While the original Rock Band instruments will be compatiable with Rock Band 2 the Guitar has a more precise strum bar, a built-in sensor which gives the player seamless calibration, a retooled tilt sensor for better use of the Overdrive feature, a more realistic neck and body design, and quieter buttons. The Drums have also been enchanced and now include a kick pedal with metal plate, velocity-sensitive drum heads, cymbal and hi-hat expansion ports and quieter drum heads.
