Microsoft, in conjunction with TECMO and Team NINJA, announced that Ninja Gaiden II title has now reached gold status and will be appearing in the hands of customers at retail stores all across North America June 3rd. This updated version of the hit sequel to the first Ninja Gaiden game will sport a new game engine that has been crafted especially for use on the Xbox 360 by Tomonobu Itagaki and Team Ninja.
For those not familiar with Ninja Gaiden II; players take control of the ninja Ryu Hayabusa as he journeys across the land on a mission to take vengeance against those who have attacked his clan, while at the same time working to prevent the downfall of humanity. In this endeavor Ryu will have about his person a wide variety of quite dangerous weapons, in addition to his own sublime ninja skills. Also included will be a newly installed system where Ryu’s health will be automatically regained over time, brand news levels, experiences, enemies, and fights all designed to bring the series to a whole new level.
To continue the general ninja-related excitement that this announcement will no doubt foster, there will be seven special Ask A Ninja episodes appearing on Xbox Live Marketplace that is sponsored by Ninja Gaiden II. The Ask A Ninja... ninja will be there to help players prepare themselves for the Gold version of Ninja Gaiden II by helping them get into the mindset of the ninja along with being generally humorous in a very wise ancient ninja way. Three of the seven Ninja Gaiden II Ask A Ninja episodes have already been released, and more will be made available on May 27th, June 3rd, and June 10th. Xbox Live Gold account holders will have first shot at viewing this specially released episodes and the rest of the Xbox LIVE population will have their chance a week later.
The Ninja Gaiden II content doesn’t end there though, as GamePlay HD will be featuring a documentary titled “The Way of the Warrior: Ninja Gaiden II” that will take fans of the Ninja Gaiden series through the real life history of ninjas and how that history came to affect the game itself. In addition, there will also be guest appearances by the members of Team NINJA, sights of historically significant areas of Japan, views of real life ninjas, and behind the scenes content. The documentary will be one hour in length and will make its first appearance on Cablevision IO Digital on May 30th. “The Way of the Warrior: Ninja Gaiden II” will also be made available for download from Xbox Live beginning on the 10th of June.
