As far as publishers go, Activision can be compared to Scrooge McDuck. They own Blizzard, and, subsequently, Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft. They own Guitar Hero and its already budding empire of releases. They own Doom and Quake, too.
They have really seemed to hit the jackpot with Call of Duty 4, as recent reports have placed total sales of the game beyond ten million. Ten. Million. Granted, the game had three platforms on which to sell, but ousting Halo from Xbox Live’s top played spot is nothing short of spectacular. I know I’ve had some choice comments about the dark side of CoD4 online, but there are few solo campaigns that can glue me to my screen like Infinity Ward’s gem. Take a well-earned dip into your sea of gold coins, Activision.
