Not long ago, magazine PSW stirred up quite a buzz by stating that the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 contained certain cut scenes that ran up to 90 minutes long. Furthering this claim, EDGE magazine mentioned in its review that two cutscenes in the game come “perilously close” to 90 minutes.
So will a play session with MGS4 possibly mean writing off an entire evening and not “playing” at all for an hour and a half? According to Kojima Productions assistant producer Ryan Payton, there are no full length feature films to be found within MGS 4. He conceded that the game does have some long sequences, but said 90 minutes is a “gross exaggeration.”
We appreciate Kojima Productions for clarifying this issue and telling us what the max length of a MGS 4 cutscene is not, but is there any possibility they could tell us what it is? Our advice is to just not make any other plans for June 12, and warn loved ones of your coming absence; it’s going to be hard for them so soon after GTA IV.
