SSFII Turbo HD Remix Beta Plagued with Freezing Problems
Posted by James Barr, Jun 25, 2008 11:46

We reported earlier in the week that a few lucky people were able to get into the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta earlier than expected with someone at Capcom flicking the switch a couple days in advance. Well, the full beta launched today and as you can imagine thousands of Street Fighter fans flocked onto their 360’s to finally get their hands on this fighting masterpiece. One thing they weren’t expecting was the inability to actually play the game.

SSF II Turbo HD Remix beta seems to be plagued with freezing problems while trying to connect to online matches. Now we know this is a beta and things go unexpectedly wrong, but the point is to get feedback from the actual game. The big question is how is that supposed to happen if players can’t even get it running? The freeze results in having to switch off the Xbox 360 altogether and then rebooting. Sadly, this doesn’t seem to resolve the issue.

Sven of the official Capcom Blog had this to say to the people complaining of the freezes and asking if the beta will be patched:

“We will not be patching the beta... resubmissions would cost a fortune and not go live for weeks even if we had (MS would have to reapprove every submission). This isn’t like the PC where a developer can make changes daily (for good or ill). All feedback and bugs will be factored into the final code.”

Not the best start to the beta really is it? For the unlucky thousands that spent 800 MS points for just a beta there is nothing you can do I’m afraid but make your voice heard over at TheGameReviews.com forums. We have attempted to contact Capcom for comment on this issue, but so far our requests have been met with silence.
