According to the official E3 website, Half-Life 2: Episode 3 will be on display at next month’s event. This is a shock to pretty much everyone, as Valve hasn’t said a word about the game or how far along it is in development for quite some time. While the site doesn’t list what form the game will be shown in, it’s likely going to be trailer only, as a playable demo seems to be way too much to hope for at this early stage.
Currently, the game is listed as being shown for the Xbox 360 and PC, with no word of a PS3 version to be found. We’re not sure if this is just an oversight, or the manifestation of the icy relationship between Sony and Valve’s Gabe Newell, but it looks like there’s a fairly good chance PS3 owners will have to go elsewhere to get their "FPS with brains" fix.
Episode 3 concludes the trilogy that tells the story of the events which directly follow the destruction of a major Combine portal at the end of Half-Life 2. Valve has stated that the culmination of all three episodes effectively stand as Half-Life 3, though they haven’t said if this will be the end of the series, or merely the end of the current story arc.
