After months and months of pleas from Playstation 3 owners, Sony has finally revealed the details and release date of the mother of all firmware updates, firmware 2.40. This update will bring in-game XMB and Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s ever popular Achievements, Trophies. Eric Lempel, Director of Playstation Network Operations, walks you through both in a pair of videos on the Playstation.Blog.
The firmware will be made available for all Sony Playstation 3 owners July 2nd. The following first-party games are also slated to offer Trophy support:
- BUZZ! Quiz TV
- LittleBigPlanet
- MotorStorm: Pacific Rift
- NBA ’09
- Pain
- PixelJunk Eden
- Resistance 2
- SOCOM: Confrontation
- Warhawk
Third-party games that are supported haven’t been announced yet, but as soon as they do, we will let you know.
What do you think about the firmware? Is it everything you hoped it would be, or is there a feature you feel the update is lacking? Head to the forums and let us know!
