Rock Band Guitars Incompatible with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith

Most likely you remember the stink that was caused when Activision refused to approve the patch that would allow Rock Band guitars to be compatible with Guitar Hero 3, even though GH 3 controllers were accepted for Rock Band. Activision cited concerns about intellectual property, and generally infuriated a lot of people by pulling a bait-and-switch on Rock Band, leaving more than a few gamers out in the cold.

So time has passed, and time heals all wounds right? It was with a hopeful heart that some people bought a copy of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, and tried firing it up with a Rock Band guitar, only to be greeted with a screen telling them, "An unsupported guitar peripheral has been detected."

Sigh.

I guess this means that nothing has changed, and anyone who is solely rocking out on a Guitar Hero or Rock Band set of instruments better be prepared to buy a whole new bundle when Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour launch later this year. I’d better start looking for space to clear in my apartment.
