Konami today announced that the latest issue in the epic Castlevania series, and the first ever in the series to transcend into the fighting genre, is being worked on especially for the Wii by the world famous producer of the Castlevania series Koiji “Iga” Igarashi. Castlevania Judgment will seek to unite the entirety of the series, both past and present, in addition to giving players the opportunity to have numerous generations of the Belmont clan to engage in battle against a assembly of characters drawn from the 22-year long Castelvania series.
Castlevania Judgment will deposit players in the middle of a titanic battle between the forces of good and evil which will be drawn in an artistic style created by Takeshi Obata. The game will be designed to be used with the motion sensing capabilities of the Nunchuk and Wiimote so that players of the game can fight their way through a multitude of levels and areas using anything from the trademark whip to a number of objects in the surrounding area that can be re-purposed offensively. In addition to this, some characters will have the ability to place traps and use monsters in order to take charge and take control.
Anthony Crouts, the Vice President of Marketing for Konami, said that the company is taking great care to “take this addition to the signature Konami franchise in a direction that really sets it apart from the previous Castlevania titles in the series”. Mr. Crouts also added that “the Wii Remote and Nunchuk capabilities, along with the iconic characters, make this game the ideal entry point into the fighting game genre. This combination is certain to thrill old and new fans of the franchise. "
Castlevania Judgment will also feature one-to-one capability with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection along with a extra feature for DS owners who own a copy of Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Owners of this game can use their copy of Castlevania Judgment to access additional bonus content for Order of Ecclesia. Castlevania Judgment will be released for purchase in North America in the fall of 2008.
