New World of Warcraft Pet Unveiled
Posted by Nick McCavitt, Jul 2, 2008 20:38

If there’s one thing that anyone can agree on, it’s that life is easier if you go through with a companion, a pal, a confidant, someone to keep the dark friend of loneliness away. Blizzard believes this just as much as anyone else, probably more so, which is why they have been working hard (or at least making their marketing gnomes and business development goblins do so) to provide a variety of in-game pets for players of World of Warcraft to keep them company as they travel across the length and breadth of Azeroth. A new pet has been in the works for quite some time, but Blizzard was keeping their collective mouths closed about what it could be. Until today.

The new World of Warcraft pet is...envelope please, thank you....Archangel Tyrael from Diablo 2!

If you can’t remember the fellow, by the way, here’s a brief primer. You rescued him from his imprisonment by Diablo and Baal in Act 2 of Diablo 2 and he even took on the Lords of Pain and Terror all on his own! The Demons eventually got the upper hand, but Tyrael survived to make it to Act 4, when he offers the player a quest that will take them to the final battle with Baal where he himself, in Act 5, destroys the Worldstone to help save, well, the world. This event is supposed to have a number of repercussions in Diablo 3 as well.

In any case, those who were lucky enough to get the promo code for this pet at the Blizzard 2008 Invitational can claim their pet at Blizzard’s Pet Redemption web page after the 2.4.3 patch is installed. Alliance players can get their pet at Stormwind while Horde players will get theirs at the Undercity, but in the meantime, Blizzard promises to offer pictures of the new pet on their official website.
