Ashley Cheng Uncertain About Starcraft and Diablo
Posted by Nick McCavitt, Jul 2, 2008 20:50

It seems to be the week for the latest and greatest in video games to be cast into doubt. Too Human was the first to be caught in the spotlight of the gaming community when Wired magazine took their turn at a play-through of the game and found themselves less than impressed. As the week goes on, however, it seems that the list of games caught with their pants down is getting longer.

On his personal blog, Ashley Cheng, the producer of Fallout 3, spoke his mind about Diablo 3 and the new Starcraft. While Ashley felt that the games looked great, or at least that Diablo did, he also expressed feelings of disappointment at the direction Blizzard was taking them:

“I must say I am disappointed that Blizzard has stayed on the conservative side in terms of design with their updates to Diablo and Starcraft.”

Must you say that, Ashley, must you?

However, despite these issues with the conservative attitude that Blizzard is showing, Ashley still has hopes that what will come out in the end will be great - at least for Diablo. “Diablo will be interesting since World of Warcraft has a lot of Diablo-like qualities," he said. "I have no doubt, however, that they will be incredibly fun, addictive and polished games. Blizzard is the top of the class when it comes to game development - nobody does it better.”

Blizzard, you’re the best!

So, there you have it, folks. Diablo and Starcraft will not be as bold as a large saucy bottle of A1 Bold, but Diablo will still be good because it’s a lot like World of Warcraft. While we at TGR have had the final word, we haven’t given Ashley his final say. So go on, Ash, let it all out.

“Dear Blizzard,
Please forgive me.
XOXO,
Ash”
