Venom Games, the company behind the recently released Don King Presents: Prizefighter, will be closed at the end of the month according to CVG. The studio, a part of 2K Games, was informed of the decision yesterday.
There is no word yet if the members of the Venom team will be offered positions at other 2K studios or in the Take-Two family in general, and attempts to reach Take-Two have resulted in nothing more than a "no comment" at this time.
As we see yet another studio shuttered and staff thrown up in the air, one has to wonder what’s going on in the industry. At a time when game companies are posting record profits, studios are being closed at a rate which would suggest the whole system is crashing. Hopefully, this is merely a streamlining effort by Take-Two, and no one will be left without a job when all is said and done. We’ll keep you posted on any developments in the story.
