Planes Coming to Burnout Paradise
Posted by Brad Hilderbrand, Jul 5, 2008 17:22

I tell you what, those folks over at Criterion just don’t ever want to stop. First, we get the Burnout Bogart update, next comes Cagney (both free mind you), and then after that, the team has said they want to start working on putting planes into the game. Yeah, as in those things that fly high above the ground and can go places where there are no roads.

While Criterion is keeping mum on the implementation, I suppose it’s not a stretch to imagine checkpoint based flight races that are all about the speed. Since there’s no traffic up in the air, the team can really crank it up to 11 and get the planes running at sheerly insane speeds. Of course, there would be some restrictions (kind of hard to play Road Rage in a jet), but I’m sure they’ll come up with ways for cars and planes to interact.

This is very exciting. I’m going to go call Maverick and Iceman, but not Goose, because he’s dead.

Editor’s Note: If you’re looking for the mention of planes in the Criterion page, scroll near the bottom. It’s just above the mention about motorcycles being added in future updates.
