According to the latest word from Atari, Alone in the Dark, the much anticipated yet widely panned survival-horror game, will be released on the PS3 sometime in Q4 2008. This means that the earliest we could see the game on Sony’s console is in October. The team working on the PS3 version has set out a different timetable from the beginning, as technical concerns and some performance hiccups have forced them to spend more time on this particular version.
Alone in the Dark was recently released on all other home consoles, as well as the PC, and was met with mainly negative reviews. While critics praised the ability to jump around and play whatever chapter you wanted, they panned the game’s clumsy mechanics and lackluster comment, with many calling the title one of the year’s biggest disappointments. Perhaps, with the extra time to work, the team crafting the PS3 version will be able to fix some of the flaws plaguing the other platform versions and create the game we all hoped Alone in the Dark could be in the first place.
