I’ve been recently playing Patapon on my PSP (late to the party, I know), and I have to say that it is one of the most oddly compelling things I’ve ever experienced. Part rhythm game, part hardcore RPG, the tale of the little Patapons determined to fight the Ziggoton army so that they can see IT at Earthend is just too fun and unique to miss out on. Someone else felt the same way, as this month’s issue of the Japanese magazine Famitsu confirms that Patapon 2 is in development.
No gameplay details have yet emerged, but we do know that the game will be developed by Pyramid and produced by Japan Studios. The group is also behind Loco Roco, another well-received PSP game that will be getting the sequel treatment as well.
So clear your head of all Pons, Patas, Chakas, and Dons while you still can, because it won’t be long until you once again hear the chants of "Pata Pata Pata Pon!"
