At this point, Criterion is just teasing us about the Burnout: Paradise Cagney update. The company announced last week that the 360 version of Cagney was being put on hold until July 14th, while the PS3 patch would go live today (July 10). However, late last night, Criterion slipped out word that the update still isn’t ready and now it is on hold until July 24.
Criterion has posted that Microsoft found a few more bugs in the code, and the team is going to go back and iron out those last few wrinkles. Hopefully, this will be the last delay of the update, as there are quite a few Burnout owners itching to get their hands on the new features. Also, with PS3 players already gaining access, you can’t make the 360ites wait too long.
Above all, it’s important that this update go off without a hitch, particularly because Cagney features 3 completely new game modes, 70 new challenges, and a few new cars thrown in for good measure. Also, given the recent debacle that was Sony’s firmware 2.40 launch, companies are being super-cautious when comes to releasing updates with even a single bug. So hang tight Burners, Cagney’s still coming, just not right away.
