Dyack: Press Too Hasty in Judging Too Human
Posted by James Barr, Jul 24, 2008 11:24

Denis Dyack gives us his insight on what some of the press has said about Silicon Knights’ Too Human. It’s widely known that the game got some negative press during the back end of June, so with that, we thought it would be good to see what Denis thought about it all:

“It’s been a wide variety of opinion, simply because the game is so different. When you first look at it through videos, you think it’s an action game, so for a while we got compared to games like God of War or Devil May Cry and I don’t think that helped us at all. Then once people played it, they said, “Oh, this is an RPG!” and I think from that point, it started leaning towards games like Diablo, which definitely have some things towards it.

“The unique thing about Too Human, because its such a fusion of action and RPG, when you start learning that you have to juggle and essentially get your combo meter up, your economy with your combo points... once people get that, they really, really like it, so all the previews I saw where people got that loved it. I think others were too hasty to judge because the game is so deep, but I think all that is going to come around; in the end, it’s in the hands of the gamers now, so I think that’s the best kind of press we can get: word of mouth.”

We played it and loved it. August can’t come soon enough!
