Nintendo Promising "Very Affordable" MotionPlus
Posted by Brad Hilderbrand, Aug 5, 2008 16:26

For as revolutionary as the Wiimote is, Nintendo acts awfully insecure about it. While the Nunchuck was an original attachment for the device, we’ve also seen the Wii Wheel and Wii Zapper, as well as the surely-in-development Wii Oar, Wii Bow Staff, and Wii Insert-Money-Here-for-Useless-Peripheral... Stick.

If all that wasn’t enough, Nintendo announced the existence of MotionPlus at E3 and the first thing we wanted to know is "how much?" According to Saturo Iwata, the answer is going to be "not much at all."

"We haven’t announced the price yet, but we’re going to try and offer it for as little as possible, so I think we can make it very affordable."

It will be interesting to see what a company that eats money and poops diamonds considers to be "affordable," but we’re hoping for something in the $5-$10 range. Much more than that, and Nintendo can keep their 1:1 waggle; I’m saving up money for Space Camp.
