With E3 bloodied and the sharks circling, now is the perfect time for an upstart game show to roll in and try and fill the void the E3 of old has left behind. It seems as though Leipziger Messe, the organization behind the Leipzig Games Convention and GCDC may be willing to try its hand at things, announcing that it is planning to expand into North America in the coming year.
The Leipzig Game Convention, which just closed this past weekend, was a hotbed of European gaming news and rumors, and drew raves from attendees and exhibitors alike. Nearly everyone surveyed said they’d be glad to come back again, and this success has emboldened the organizers to try bringing a variation of the show to the other side of the Atlantic.
This won’t be the group’s first overseas trip though, as they are currently gearing up for the second annual GC Asia September 18-20 in Singapore. Therefore, assuming an American version is planned, this could very well be the first ever truly global games convention. We’ll keep an eye out for more news, and let you know which week you’ll need to clear your calendar to check out this brand new event.
