Castle Crashers is a charmingly simple yet incredibly enjoyable game thanks to the seamless fusion of old school beat-em-up mechanics and Dan Paladin’s unique art style. Throw in some slick humor and nearly endless replayability, and you’ve got what has become one of the summer’s biggest Xbox Live Arcade hits. It would seem that The Behemoth isn’t done with this game though, as the game’s creators have already hinted at the first round of DLC.

According to a recent post on their developer blog, the team is expecting to release new playable characters in the form of the King and Necromancer, as well as a chainsaw weapon in the forthcoming update. Right now, The Behemoth is still waiting to hear from Microsoft on the issues of pricing and release dates.

One interesting note in all this is that both these characters and the new weapon have all existed for a long time now, and many people were expecting to see this content in the game’s initial release. So in essence, it boils down to an issue of it two new characters and a chainsaw are worth an extra purchase, or if this is just a case of Microsoft trying to nickel and dime consumers into paying for content that should have been in the game already. Thoughts?
