Fans of the Penny Arcade webcomic have reason to rejoice, as Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode Two has reached gold status and will soon be available for purchase on PC, Mac and Linux machines. In addition, the game is set to appear in the Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store as a downloadable title, just like the first game in the series. For their part, publisher Hothead Games is ever so excited, and they hope you enjoy the new experience.
Said Hothead CEO Vlad Ceraldi:
"Episode One was a huge investment for us and established a great base from which we built Episode Two. It allows us to focus even more on the fans in developing future games in the series. Our new game has a lot of great enhancements that were made possible by direct fan interaction and we are extremely excited to get our game into their hands and get their feedback."
While we don’t yet have a firm release date, we do have a price, and you’re going to be happy to hear it. The price across all platforms is $14.95, which is $5 cheaper than the original game. Also, Xbox 360 owners will notice that this brings the Penny Arcade price in line with that of Braid and Castle Crashers, so the series will no longer hold the distinction as being the highest-priced set of games on Xbox Live. For the PlayStation Network, this isn’t really a big deal, as Sony has already sold WipEout HD for $20 and a full downloadable version of Burnout Paradise for $30.
I’m very excited about this announcement, but I just wish they had given a release date to go along with all the other info. What we do know is that you can either continue the story with your character from the first game, or start over with a new avatar. Also, the game features adjustable difficulty levels, so if you grew frustrated by some of the seemingly impossible bosses of the original, this time there will be a way to tone it down a bit. I absolutely adored the first game, and the humor had me rolling in laughter on several occasions. True, if you aren’t a fan of the Penny Arcade brand of humor then you’ll likely find nothing special about the game and just see it as a stripped-down action-time RPG, but comic devotees will love every second.
