Wrath of the Lich King is DVD Only

Just in case you happen to be a World of Warcraft player who hasn’t bought a new computer since 1992, you may want to listen up. Activision Blizzard today announced that their highly-anticipated WoW expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, will be distributed via DVD only. Basically, what that means is that if your computer doesn’t sport a DVD-ROM drive, then you’re outta luck until Blizzard decides to drop the digital version of the game, if they decide to do such a thing.

It’s unlikely this will affect few if any WoW owners, though it is indeed possible for someone out there to own a computer without a DVD drive. And if that is indeed the case, then it looks like your next trip to Best Buy will consist of a hardware purchase to go along with that new video game you’re buying.

So how about it, is anyone who’s planning on buying the game now stymied by this announcement, or are CD-ROMs so outdated you don’t even think abou them when making your game purchases anymore? Anybody seething with white hot rage?
