Casual Video Games for Anyone, Available
Posted by TGRNews, Dec 4, 2007 15:02

Millions of consumers are still shopping as the holiday season nears the finish line. "Casual" video games are a great option -- anyone from six to 106 can find fun in games like Bejeweled, Bookworm Adventures, and Insaniquarium. But most of these family-friendly casual games have been sold only via Web download and only for PC and Macintosh computers.

PopCap Games, the leading creator of casual games, is making a sizable portion of its lineup available at major retail outlets, including Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Best Buy and Fry’s, and for use on PCs as well as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 consoles. Even Grandma will enjoy grabbing a mouse or controller and playing a few rounds of Bejeweled or Bookworm; 47% of casual game players are age 50 or older.

The award-winning hits Peggle, Bejeweled 2, Bookworm Adventures, Chuzzle, Zuma, Insaniquarium and Feeding Frenzy are available individually for PCs in boxed and jewel-case editions at just $19.95 each. For consoles, PopCap Arcade Volume 1 for Xbox and PopCap Hits Volume 1 for PlayStation 2 each feature multiple games and offer something for everyone in the family at a very affordable price ($29.95 and $19.95, respectively).

And for the truly last-minute shopper and/or the seriously impossible person for whom to find gifts, PopCap offers a printable/email-able gift certificate on its website, http://www.popcap.com. This gift certificate makes it even easier to give the gift of casual games to anyone, because: -- Purchasing the gift certificate takes less than a minute via any major credit card. -- It can be mailed or emailed quickly and easily, or stuffed in a stocking (standard CD jewel cases won’t fit in most stockings). -- The gift giver doesn’t need to know which game would be most enjoyed by the recipient -- the gift certificate can be applied to any of the two dozen games available on PopCap’s website. -- Even the recipient of the gift certificate doesn’t need to choose a game "blindly" -- thanks to PopCap’s "try before you buy" policy, any and all games on the site can be played by the recipient, after which the preferred game can be ’purchased’ by redeeming the gift certificate instantly.
