Have you ever been driving down the Highway and looked up at a billboard and wondered how much it cost to rent that space? How do people afford those things? Well it seems that some resort to digital billboards. Barack Obama, the Democratic residential candidate, did just that. If you live in one of the ten battle ground states and have been cruising the streets of Paradise, or slapping the puck around the ice on Xbox Live, you may have run across an add with Obama’s face plastered to it.
So how much does something like that cost? When you think about the number of games, eighteen, and the number of states they appear in (10), well that number should be well into the Millions of Dollars. Actually the tab that Barack has rung up is rather modest. The value of 18 titles and 10 states worth of games is $44,500. Massive, the company in charge of running the ads, has run the ads from October 6th up until election-eve.
John McCain, the opposition to Obama, was offered a similar deal for running ads, but the current senator passed at the deal. Obama is targeting the traditionally commercially coveted 18 and 34 demographic and seems to focus on sports games as well with these ads.
Could this help Obama and his following win the White House? Only time will tell, and don’t forget to cast your vote on Nov. 4.
