EA Clarifies Position on Banning Users from Games
Posted by Brad Hilderbrand, Nov 3, 2008 09:39

In our last edition of Rumor Killers, we ran a quote from EA community manager Aaron Kaufman effectively stating that anyone who was banned from the EA message boards could also be banned from any online access with their games. Today, however, we have received word that Mr. Kaufman "misspoke," and the company has no plans to restrict anyone’s access to their games after all.

"If we suspend or ban you from the forums, that does not affect your in-game account and certainly it does not impact your in-game account for other games," said Kaufman. "Quite often we usually warn you before taking any type of action, suspend you before considering any type of ban, etc..."

There, now everyone can put down their torches and pitchforks and resume hating EA for the traditional reasons of lack of innovation and corporate greed, rather than this now-debunked message board rumor. Don’t worry, I’m sure the company will give you ample reasons to get upset between now and the end of the year, it’s considerate like that.
