PoP: Instant Entertainment 24/7 coming to UK
Posted by Aaron Cooley-Themm, 245 days ago Nov 3, 2008 23:22

PoP Instant Entertainment 24/7

Today in the United States, a new trend of vending machines that dispense movie rentals and other forms of media is growing by the day. In the UK, the thirst for media vending machines seems to be even bigger. The PoP Instant Entertainment 24/7 vending machine, which Sony and Universal have partnered to bring to the public, was introduced at the Stuff Live Expo and is hitting the UK soon.

Unlike what we have in the US, the system features a nice touch screen display and menus allowing for easy navigation, and it won’t be a rental machine. The PoP will actually act not only as a media store where flash media will be inserted to purchase and transfer music directly to the card, but will also serve as a outlet for PS3 games and Blu-Ray movies.

To buy a game or movie you will need a credit card to swipe through the machine, and magnificently, a copy of your chosen game will emerge from the slot. Currently, neither company has stated plans for moving the PoP to other countries. If the machine is a hit we could see a stateside release quicker than you may think. Look out GameStop the PoP may be coming to town.
