UPDATE: Rare has apparently changed their mind on this issue and decided to officially rescind their previous statements. They are now saying that they will in fact be fixing the issue. The released statement says the fix will come in the form of a patch within the next 30 days.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts will be releasing in stores soon and it seems that gamers not blessed with an HDTV to play their XBOX 360 on will have some issues with the game.
Many will remember the complaints that some shared in the struggle to read the text in Dead Rising, even in HD. It seems that Banjo-Kazooie will have a similar problem.
The issue was brought to light after the release of the demo over XBOX live just about 2 weeks ago. If you have an HDTV this will not affect you as the text is legible and easy to read. However, if you have an SDTV the text is simply too small and much too blurry to read. It seems the bigger story however, is that Rare has no intentions on fixing this.
"I’m sorry that we weren’t able to address this issue as nothing would please us more than turning all your complaints into gleeful responses," says George Kelion, Rare’s community manager, "but it’s simply something that’s too expensive in terms of time, resources and money to alter.” said George Kelion, Rare’s community manager on the forums at Neogaf.
This is troubling news for those out there that purchase a Xbox 360 but cannot afford an expensive HDTV. CVG reported last month that Microsoft requires that all XBLA games be playable on a 14 inch SDTV? Though this is not an XBLA game, the standard should be similar. There is a big partnership between Rare and Microsoft, how could they have missed this?
