Game developer Activision Inc announced today the release of The History Channel: Batlle for the Pacific for the Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and Wii with a PS3 version to be released December 12th. The game places characters in the boots of an American G1 who will be armed with authentically recreated period weapons such as submachine guns, sniper rifles, anti aircraft guns and grenades that the player will use to battle through areas like Gaudalcanal, the Philippines, and Iwo Jima. There will also be documentary footage of the various battles and events related in the story. The History Channel: Battle For The Pacific will also feature an online mode for the next generation consoles and the PC. It will give players the option of fighting as an American or Japanese soldier in solo or group battles that include elimination, deathmatch, team deathmatch, or the tried and true capture the flag.

David Oxford of Activision Inc stated the company was “ thrilled to continue our collaboration with the award-winning The History Channel to deliver gamers with a new chapter in the WWII series,” and Mr. Oxford also went onto say that “Everything in The History Channel: Battle for the Pacific from the combat and mission locations to the weapons and documentary footage is painstakingly researched "that brought gamers “a cinematic war experience that is both incredibly exciting and accurate.”
