Less than a year after the release of the PS2 RPG Persona 3, Atlus released a special edition of the game, dubbed FES. Many fans of the original were annoyed that because the updated FES version included new personas, weapon fusing, new social links, and an entire 30-hour bonus dungeon, they needed to buy the game again to get the full Persona experience.
Fans looking forward to Persona 4 can now rest easy. Last Thursday Atlus made a non-announcement by announcing that there will be no enhanced or expanded version of the game:
“We are today able to announce that at no point in the future will we announce the release of a “FES” version of Persona 4,” said Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “The very finest, most definitive version of Persona 4 will be the one released on December 9, 2008.”
Persona 4 is set in a small town in the country. In this RPG, players must not only guide the main character through the perils of high school, but also solve a series of grisly murders. The game will be released in North America on December 12.
