Paul Thind, former general manager for Sulake Inc. and Habbo Hotel, is now Outspark’s new chief business officer.
Outspark currently runs a free to play website portal offering a quintet of games such as Fiesta, a 3D MMORPG. The website’s model operates similarly to F2P giants like Nexon, offering free games alongside sales of in-game digital trinkets and equipment.
"Despite current market conditions, Outspark is at the forefront of the video game and online virtual world industry and I’m excited to join the company at such an exhilarating period of corporate growth," newly appointed CBO of Outspark Paul Thind said. "During my time at Habbo I focused on growing partnerships and bringing more value to the community and I recognize an even bigger opportunity for growth here at Outspark."
Thind presided over a massive expansion of Habbo Hotel’s popularity, growing the user base to over 20 million users in North America. Outspark’s current community stands at 3.3 million, so Thind has some work ahead of him.
"Paul has a proven track record of leading digital entertainment companies to success and we are thrilled to have him as the newest member of the Outspark team," CEO and founder of Outspark Susan Choe said. "His years of experience in this industry and creative approach to growing and monetizing online communities make him a valuable addition to our company."
So what does this mean for you? Outspark point cards are already offered at Best Buy and Target, and the list of retailers should be growing soon. Perhaps it won’t be long until you hear tweens squealing over the cuteness of games like Bread ’n’ Butter.
