Sony has officially revealed the sequel to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Spke TV will be helping to promote the game, called Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, through their annual Video Game Awards.

Naughty Dog, the developers of the Uncharted franchise have put together a teaser trailer to promote the VGA Awards, which you can check out now at Game Trailers. The video features Nathan Drake staggering through the snow with what seems to be an injured arm and stopping to pick up a dagger better known as a "Phubra."

To see more about the game you can tune into Spike on December 14th at 9:00pm. Game Informer is also offering a 10-page exclusive look at the game, complete with flashy magazine cover, for their January 2009 issue.

Nathan Drake will return as the cunning protagonist. Uncharted 2’s setting has been said to be in the 13th century around the time of famous explorer Marco Polo. Along with new content to explore, the game will also offer free-climbing and stealth game mechanics to fully indulge the player in Uncharted’s exploration.

It’s nice to see another Uncharted title. The previous game elevated the tomb raiding action and adventure genre by fixing some of the elements that always seem to hold it down, like bad camera angles, ill-placed combat situations and the need to stop and line up your jumps. There has been no mention in detail of the "free-climbing" and "stealth" game mechanics that we may see in Uncharted 2; we can only hope they’ll help rather than hurt the franchise.
