First, to be fair, his name isn’t really Hootie despite popular belief. But the former Hootie & The Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker is a gamer, and he recently revealed an intriguing secret about the gaming habits of his buddy Tiger Woods.
Rucker sang at Woods’ wedding, and though they’ve had time to hit the links, they’ve never competed in Woods’ own golf games. The reason? Woods prefers shooters.
"We’ve talked about playing online, but he likes to play those shoot-em-up games. I play those but I’m not very good at those," Rucker said in a CNet interview.
Interesting. So not only is golf’s greatest a devoted fan of the s’hmup, but he also pwns. Not only that, but those ads where Woods unwinds at home with a round of Tiger Woods Golf for the Wii are misleading. It’s more likely that he’s teabagging some newbie in Halo or slicing someone with the chainsaw in Gears of War.
As for Rucker, he prefers lighter fare, like the EA Sports games and nation-building titles like Empire Earth and Civilization.
"I’ll play those all the time," he said. "I’ll play on the hardest level and play the longest game I can play and play it for a couple of weeks if I can...I try to build the biggest city in one game cause I love it. I’m a dork."
He’s a wealthy dork, too. His entertainment center consists of a 60-inch TV, two 42-inch and 36-inch TVs and a separate wall for another 60-inch TV dedicated solely to gaming. Tiger Woods better have something similar.
