Assassin’s Creed 2 to release in 2009, other Ubisoft titles revealed
In a Q3 earnings report conference call today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced that Ubisoft fully intends to release Assassin’s Creed 2 by the end of the year.
This news comes one day after Wedbush Morgan Financial Securities Analyst Michael Pachter predicted the game’s launch before the year’s end, and nearly two weeks after our own James Barr said the same in a Rumor Killers special. Good call.
Guillemot also explained that I Am Alive, which was announced to have a March release date just yesterday, will be delayed further into the 2009-2010 fiscal year to further polish the game.
Near the end of the call, when asked about Ubisoft’s support of the Wii console, Guillemot also let slip that the company is developing a new Red Steel title for the platform, but promptly stopped himself, realizing that he had already said too much.
Guillemot also confirmed that Splinter Cell: Conviction and a new, unnamed Ghost Recon title should see a 2009 release.
Grand Theft Auto IV DLC priced
Rockstar announced today that their Grand Theft Auto IV expansion would sell for 1600 Microsoft Points (or $20). This is more or less the price everyone was expecting for the additional content. "The Lost and the Damned" will be released on February 17th, and should be the first of two exclusive expansions planned for the 360 (though we have yet to hear anything about the second).
Skate 2 DLC saves gamers time, effort of playing game
EA now offers the "Time is Money" pack to the gamer that can’t be bothered to play games. The DLC will "unlock all locations, skaters and gear that can be earned by playing through Skate 2’s career and online modes," according to the product details. That’s one step closer to the DLC we’ve all been waiting for: Purchasable achievements.
