Daily News Roundup: January 28, 2009
Posted by Andrew Groen, 302 days ago Jan 28, 2009 20:32

Starting off the roundup today, we ran a great story today from an interview we held with the producer of the Godfather 2 video game.

Play Mirror’s Edge in Third Person

Some people just wouldn’t cut Mirror’s Edge any slack. Some liked it, and thought it was a refreshingly different platformer that dared to challenge genre conventions. For those who didn’t like it though, maybe this will help. Some folks have tinkered with the PC version to allow a way to pull the camera back and play the game in third person.

It’s a little bit wonky since DICE never bothered to put in most of the animations. It looks goofy, but it’s worth a watch.

Dead Rising 2 Goes Multiplatform

In case there were any lingering fears that your console of choice might not see a rendition of Dead Rising 2, you can now official put those to rest. It was discovered in an interview with Keiji Inafune conducted by ubiquitous Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu that Capcom’s strategy for 2009 is to be a multiplatform developer. This apparently includes Dead Rising 2.

He said that they will be gearing their strategy towards development on both PS3 and Xbox 360. He also mentioned that they were planning on including some extras in the 360 edition to show good will towards the system.

UK to Overtake Japan Games Market in 2009

Ever notice how Europe always gets the shaft when it comes to game release dates? Sure, they get their Pro Evo before the rest of the world, but for most games they have to wait for months before it makes it to their shores.

Expect that to change pretty soon. Mcvuk.com compiled some statistics, and found that trends over the past few years suggest that the UK will overtake the Japanese gaming market in 2009. I, for one, expect games companies to start showing some respect to our trans-Atlantic brethren.
