God of War creator and Eat Sleep Play studio owner, David Jaffe, wants to make an Indiana Jones game, as reported in an interview with 1UP.
In the interview, Jaffe expressed interest in doing an Indiana Jones game because he is a big fan of the film series. He expressed that Indiana Jones and especially the Raiders of the Lost Ark had a lot to do with his “creative development,” and are very important to him. Jaffe biographers will remember that Jaffe initially wanted to study film before going into game development.
“So certainly, those movies, and specifically Raiders, are really important to me.”
Jaffe said there will always be a desire to work on an Indiana Jones game in the video game world. Jaffe also expressed that he didn’t know if he would ever do an Indiana Jones game, but he said he has a lot of ideas for what LucasArts could do with that franchise.
“Do I think I will ever (make an Indiana Jones game)? I don’t know. I have a great idea for how LucasArts could really take that property and do cool things with it.”
Jaffe also went so far as to even say this to LucasArts. “…If they’re (LucasArts) reading this, they should give us a call at Eat Sleep Play. We’d love to talk to them.”
LucasArts is working on a Indiana Jones game for PSP, DS, and Wii at the moment. Will they call Jaffe to create the next one? Only time will tell, but we certainly hope so. Past games using the Indiana Jones license have been lackluster at best, and it will take a visionary like Jaffe to pull the series out of its rut.
