Epic Gets Geared Up for Charity Auction
Posted by Jeff Sorensen, 275 days ago Feb 25, 2009 07:46

The guys from the "TechKnow” Podcast are out to prove once and for all that it’s not the size of the show that matters, it’s how you use it.

Clayton Davison, known to his viewers as “Kinkoman,” posted an announcement about a week ago that "TechKnow” has teamed up with Epic Games and on March 4 at 12:00 pm (PST) they’ll be auctioning off an Xbox 360 signed by most of the lead development crew for Gears of War 2 and featuring a hand-drawn Gears logo by Senior Concept Artist James Hawk, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“It’s just one of the greatest charities,” Davison told TGR, “There’s so many different charities out there it was hard to pick which one we wanted to do, but Make-A-Wish stood out to us.”

Davison, a student from San Diego, attended the E4All show last year where he met a contact from Epic to discuss the release of Gears of War 2, so when the TechKnow staff came up with the idea for a charity auction in October, he approached Epic and purchased an Xbox in November.

“It took a while to get everyone’s signature,” said Davison, “but we got all that stuff back and in December we started talking about the auction and [setting] the parameters. We were hoping to do it a little bit before Christmas, but time complications got in the way.” Davison also mentioned that the original idea was to do a charity auction with a different game company every year, but that his contact at Epic made them a logical place to start.

The auction will run from March 4 to March 13, and the link to bid can be found at www.techknowpodcast.com.
