Capcom have sparked rumours of a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake for the Wii which could be announced at the Resident Evil Launch Party on Thursday.
Resident Evil fans who feel left out by the lack of a Resident Evil 5 release were given something to look forward to when Associate Product Marketing Manager Matt Dahlgren told Joystiq that although “it was made for the Xbox 360 and PS3… Nintendo Wii fans will be very happy very soon.”
Fuelling further rumours of a possible remake heading to Wii, Dahlgren then told Game Focus “if you are a fan of Code Veronica you should pay attention in the next couple of weeks, there is some news you should be very pleased with… pay attention on the 12th (March).”
Dahlgren also admitted that “Nothing is planned for the game regarding a remake on PSN/XBLA” in regards to Code Veronica, narrowing down the potential details of an impending announcement.
Whilst nothing is for certain, it seems clear that in the near future, Wii and Code Veronica fans may have something to celebrate, but whether that is something to enjoy together is yet to be seen.
The Resident Evil 5 launch party starts at 8pm (PDT) Thursday 12th at the Union Square GameStop in San Francisco and finishes at midnight where those who have pre-purchased the game will finally get their hands on a hard copy.
Co-producers Jun Takeuchi and Masachika Kawata will be in attendance along with the motion capture/voice actors that played Chris, Sheva and Josh.
So standby Thursday night for what could be a very interesting announcement for Wii and Code Veronica fans.
