If there is one thing that Guerrilla, developers behind the critically acclaimed Killzone 2, does not like, it’s cheaters.
As a result, according to Destructoid, Guerilla has decided to come out and warn all those exploiting glitches and bugs in the game’s multiplayer that if their deviant behavior persists, there is a possibility that cheaters will get their PSN ID banned.
"Glitchers risk losing their PSN ID altogether," warns Guerrilla. "We’ve been quite lenient so far but that’s going to change."
A number of glitches and bugs have been discovered in Killzone 2’s multiplayer that allows gamers to glitch into the floors to escape detection, become invincible, clipping through walls, and other things that give them an unfair advantage over the competition.
In the past, developers’ reactions to gamers exploiting flaws in the design have been varied. For instance, when a glitch was discovered in Electronic Arts’ Battlefield: Bad Company that allowed gamers to easily top the game’s leader boards, a patch was eventually issued that fixed the problem. There were no repercussions against cheaters. However, in Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, it is not unusual for moderators to temporarily ban gamers who take advantage of glitches to duplicate items, etc.
This does beg the question: why would Guerrilla go through all the hassle of monitoring their game for people who cheat instead of fixing the problem that allows them to cheat in the first place?
No news regarding future patches or fixes being released for Killzone 2 have been officially announced.
