Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Coming to PSP, PS2, Wii
Posted by Brittany Vincent, 233 days ago Apr 7, 2009 11:54

Nintendo Power broke the news to Silent Hill fans about Silent Hill: Shattered Memories’ impending Wii release. Now, Konami has taken its turn and is announcing the very same game for both the PSP and PlayStation 2, both of which should be more suited to the game and its control scheme. Though the Wii will offer "innovative" controls, it’s my personal belief that Silent Hill has always been more suited to the PlayStation or Xbox.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is, in fact, a rehash of the original game. Harry Mason is on a quest to recover his missing daughter, and his search leads him through the menacing town of Silent Hill. Yes, we’ve been there and done that, but this retelling seeks to turn previous notions of the title on its head with brand new dialogue options, graphics, and twisted objectives.

For instance, the Wii version will utilize the Wii remote as a cell phone, a flashlight, and a key element in solving puzzles - aka more waggle to obfuscate and frustrate. More importantly, all versions of the game will feature a mechanic that actually monitors the path players take throughout the game. Depending on which items gamers look at, which characters they interact with, and a host of other variables, the game will shape itself differently according to the choices.

This should be a great way for newcomers to Silent Hill to get their feet in the door, and it’s comforting to know that Konami isn’t afraid to take a visit down memory lane to bring rabid Silent Hill fans more of what they crave. Let’s just hope they don’t drop the ball.
