Halo 3 Mythic Maps Now Available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace
Posted by Brittany Vincent, 230 days ago Apr 9, 2009 16:29

Finally, those of you who couldn’t bring yourself to purchase the bells-and-whistles edition of Halo Wars can horn in on the Mythic Map Pack swirling around on the Halo 3 servers. The maps have finally made their grand entrance onto the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Team-killers and Halo-jumpers can rejoice, as this means three brand new locations in which to cause havoc and possibly annoy the other team.

The Mythic Map Pack brings three maps with it: Sandbox, Orbit, and Assembly. Having gotten access to these maps before the sale on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace myself, I can assure you that they deliver more of the same Halo goodness that you’re used to. Sandbox is a rather open-ended map, ideal for those who like to play around with Forge and tinker a bit. Orbital is a rather closed-in area where CQC is prevalent rather than any real strategy - it’s so tight. Finally, Assembly slightly resembles Epitaph, though it’s in reality a scarab factory. To be fair, none of the maps feel particularly original in the wider scope of things, but if you’ve had enough of the maps already available to you, then this purchase should be a no-brainer.

The Marketplace’s blurb sums it up best:

"The long-awaited Mythic Map Pack drops into Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Investigate Orbital’s abandoned hallways - before it was evacuated, the Quito Space Tether was heralded as the "Civil Engineering Monument of the Millennium." Witness Assembly, where Scarab hulls loom overhead, being decontaminated in preparation for the city-sized Lekgolo colonies that will breathe life into the massive metal husks. An excavation site surrounded by deadly Forerunner defenses, the mysteries of Sandbox are hidden high above, deep below, and right before your eyes."

Of course, they do get paid to make things sound a lot better than they actually are. Curious? Who not see for yourself? The maps can be yours right now for 800 Microsoft points, and a little bit of patience. Who’s up for some SWAT?
