Tekken 6 is one of the world’s premier fighting games. A game long-considered a PlayStation exclusive has since gone multiplatform with a simultaneous release on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall, but what are the chances of this fighter making its way to the Nintendo Wii? One would think that’s a stupid question, but according to Namco’s Katsuhiro Harada it may not be dumb at all.
During an interview with GamePro.com, when quizzed on the possibilities, Katsuhiro Harada explained how a Nintendo Wii port is possible: “That would be very interesting. Like the Xbox 360 owners, if Wii owners are passionate and make it known they really want the series on their system, we would love to be able to answer that request. Hearing about the huge number of Xbox 360 owners who are Tekken fans, especially in North America, definitely played a huge part in influencing us to bring the game to that system.” He did go on to stay there could be some difficulties, not citing the power of the Wii but something else, “As for the Wii, the standard controller lacks the right number of buttons and the placement is awkward, so... I suppose the classic controller could handle it!”
There you have it Nintendo fans, make your voice heard and you may well see Tekken 6 grace your console. It’s good that developers listen to what people want sometimes, and now that Namco has adopted a multiplatform stance, you may very well see games you once thought impossible in the near future. I would LOVE to see TEKKEN 6 on the Wii console. This is one of my favorite fighting games. I believe that good use of the Classic controller will solve any problems that the Wii remote will not handle. The last GOOD fighting game that i played on the Wii was Mortal Kombat, and the Classic control worked perfectly! There are a lot of games on the Wii that should have provided an option to use the Classic control or the Wii remote. Mortal Kombat was just one game that did it, and did it RIGHT! I’ve been a Nintendo fan since the start. I have all of the Nintendo consoles, and have never owned any other since the the NES came out. I believe that Nintendo needs more games like these. There have been TOO many good games that are on X Box and PS3 that could work just as well on the Wii console. (I’m still bitter about Street Fighter 4) Anyway, with that said, I would be REALLY EXCITED to see TEKKEN 6 on the Wii.
