Marvel vs Capcom 2 is Finally Announced
Posted by TGR Staff, 211 days ago Apr 28, 2009 12:54

Capcom has officially announced the release of the world clashing fighter Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the Playstation Network and Xbox Live. To keep the visuals up to date on this last-gen gem, the game will feature wide-screen support. The action happening within a 4:3 frame, a la Street Fighter II Turbo, but the stages extend out to the full wide-screen format. To bring the “New Age of Heroes” into the new age, an optional graphical filter is being added to smooth out the jagged edges of the visuals.

For those who missed out on the brawler last generation, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 pits characters from various Marvel and Capcom franchises against each other in fast paced 3 on 3 tag-team matches. The multiple character format allows the player to use their fighters waiting in the wings to support their active character and unleash super combos using up to all 3 fighters at once.

All 56 of the fighters from the original iterations return in this downloadable port and are all unlocked from the start. That means no need to grind Arcade Mode for points to buy most of the characters. That time that you save there will instead go into the new online modes which include Ranked Matches and Quarter matches that have been in previous downloadable Street Fighter titles.

Start planning your dream teams and saving your Space Bucks kiddos. We’ll probably be seeing this game earlier in the summer rather than later, though no solid release date has been set yet.

MvsC2 will have a price of $15 on PS3 and 1200 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live. A demo is in the works which will be released on the Playstation Network April 30th in the states and will be a followed by a UK release not long after. The demo is said to be a PSN exclusive so hook up your PS3s and get ready to fight this week.

$15 sure beats hunting down a $70 used copy from GameStop. Just put that cash you save into an arcade stick or two.
