Blizzard updated their homepage yesterday with news that members of Blizzard.net could update their accounts with opt-in preferences for the Starcraft II beta, as well as any other betas in the Warcraft or Diablo line of games - which potentially means Diablo 3.
Here’s the skinny from the site:
The StarCraft II beta-test period is coming in the months ahead! If you’d like a chance to participate, now’s the time to let us know. Simply go to the "Beta Profile Settings" page in Battle.net account management to go through the new beta opt-in process and upload a snapshot of your system specs. During this process, you’ll also have the opportunity to opt in to future betas for other Blizzard Entertainment games. Please note that even if you’ve opted in to our betas previously, you’ll need to complete this new process and upload your current system specs to have a chance to be invited.
For more information, see the FAQ -- or create a Battle.net account to opt in now. If you have an unused beta code from BlizzCon 2008 or WWI 2008, visit this site to enter your code.
Remembering my old Bnet user/pass required some serious dusting off of mental cobwebs as I hadn’t logged in since playing Warcraft III. It just occurred to me that my inactivity might hurt my chances of getting in the beta... I’d better shove some obscure hardware in my computer to compensate.
Expectant players can do little more than update their profiles and neurotically refresh their inboxes since the beta registration FAQ neatly locks down any angle at chumping the system. One entry is allowed per battle.net account, and only battle.net accounts with at least one registered Blizzard game are eligible. I guess you could make several accounts and buy a game for each, but something tells me Blizzard would be pleased as a peach if you did.
