Most Profitable Nintendo Franchises Revealed
Posted by Heath Hooker, 201 days ago May 9, 2009 01:09

The Nintendo Wii and DS have been propelled to the pantheon of some of the most popular Nintendo consoles of all time. The console and handheld have sold a bazillion units, and that is still rising. The software is almost the same, and now the best selling games for the two Nintendo systems have been revealed.

As you might have guessed, Wii Sports and Wii Play top the list with 45.7 million and 22.9 million with Wii Sports beating out the rest of the games. Other Wii games to top the list included Wii Fit (18.2 million), Mario Kart Wii (15.4 million), Super Smash Bros. Brawl (8.4 million), and Super Mario Galaxy (8 million). Other notable games you are sure to recognize on the Wii list include Mario Party 8, Wii Music, and Super Mario Stadium Baseball.

Although Mario ruled the popular Wii games, he got beat out by Nintendogs on the top Nintendo DS software sales. The new Super Mario Bros with 18.4 million got beat down by another rising Nintendo franchise, Nintendogs with 22.2 million. The other games featuring Mario fell down the DS list getting outsold by Cooking Guide(18.4 million), Brain Trainer (17.4 million), and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl (16.8 million). Other notable games on the top selling DS games to date were many of the Mario games including Mario Kart DS, Super Mario 64 DS, and Mario Party DS.
