Posted by Nick24444, Jan 4, 2008 13:04

Mad Catz Interactive, a third party producer of various video game accessories, released information today regarding a deal it has made with MTV Networks, which is a part of Viacom International Incorporated, that gives Mad Catz permission to develop and market a variety of accessories and other items for use with the Rock Band game which is now available for purchase for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Playstation 2 consoles in stores all over North America. The type of products that Mad Catz will be producing under the terms of this agreement include wired and wireless guitar controllers, a drum set that will include a set of wooden drum sticks, and a wired microphone. Mad Catz has stated that the first line of products will be retailed in the first half of 2008.

Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz, offered the statement that “"This agreement with MTV Games represents a natural opportunity for Mad Catz to combine our core competencies of producing and distributing high-quality accessories with the entertaining experience of Rock Band’s interactive controllers”. Mr, Richardson also added that “Mad Catz will produce premium instruments, allowing gamers and music fans to experience music in an entirely new light while taking on the personality of their favorite music idols” and that new accessories that Mad Catz will be making available for purchase later this year are “with Mad Catz’ stated goal to align ourselves with the most attractive brands and highly-anticipated software releases while seeking additional accessory opportunities to further diversify and grow our revenue base.”
