Don Mattrick, head of Microsoft Games, has listed in a memo several upcoming Xbox 360 titles that are guaranteed to be released within 2008. The list of games, all exclusive to the 360, includes: Alan Wake, Fable 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Halo Wars, and Too Human. Certain items on this list come at great relief as games such as Too Human and Alan Wake have been in production for some time, and frankly wouldn’t surprise anyone if they slipped into 2009. The mentioning of the latest Splinter Cell arriving this year does collide with a rumor printed in the January issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, which speculates that SC: Conviction is undergoing major design changes, and has already been delayed into the next fiscal year which begins in April 2008. Hopefully this just means that the game won’t be released until the holidays.
After naming these Xbox 360 exclusives Mattrick also mentions several multiplatform titles that will arrive on the console, including Resident Evil 5, which has some wondering if this is an implication of a 2008 release. It is definitely good to see some great exclusive 360 content being guaranteed to arrive next year, after the avalanche this fall that left gamers wondering if Microsoft was going to run out of good exclusive content in the new year.
